Daniel Hyde | Director
An inspiring evening of sacred and secular music in the stunning setting of Douai Abbey. In the first half the Choir sing works by Taverner, Sheppard, Tallis, Tomkins and Gibbons interspersed with organ pieces by Byrd and Carlton. As a contrast, English Madrigals (from May Morning) and light-hearted close harmony style arrangements will follow the second half. Under the direction of Daniel Hyde, the Choir of sixteen and twelve men sing the daily church services in Magdalen College Chapel. They have also appeared frequently on television and radio and sung to appreciative audiences all over the world. They have made a number of critically acclaimed recordings, one of which was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2005.
