Monday 2nd September 2013 – Friday 27th September 2013,
Corn Exchange & New Greenham Arts Gallery
Glass, painting, sculpture, mixed media, drawing and more... all inspired by the theme Below the Surface.
Studio 8 is Shirley Eccles, Flora Gare, Sally Haynes, Louise Patey, Helen Peake, Marie Sudwell, Luke Webb and Jethro German; eight visual artists from various backgrounds drawn together under one roof at New Greenham Arts Centre.
They use different processes for creating art including drawing, construction, casting, painting, collage, printmaking and photography, and are involved in teaching, running workshops, exhibitions and commissions.
Each year Studio 8 put on an exhibition at Corn Exchange Newbury & New Greenham Arts. They create new work in response to the title, resulting in a fresh dialogue and more critical approach to their practises. This year’s title is Below the Surface; a theme suggesting layers, tracings, scratching the surface, what is covered hidden and revealed. It’s a starting point that will be both challenging and exciting for the artists and audience, to explore and see what emerges.
