Stornoway perform at New Greenham Arts ahead of their seond album, Tales from Terra Firma.

This event is now sold out, don't miss our next New Greenham New Folk gig, Emily Portman Trio.

Stornoway are a British indie folk band formed in 2006 in Oxford. Having self-released three EPs, the band signed to 4AD in March 2010, releasing their debut single for the label just weeks later. Their home-recorded debut long player, Beachcomber’s Windowsill followed shortly after in May, building on the already substantial fan base the band had acquired through breathless word of mouth reverie.

Quickly they acquired the support of Radio 1 with two playlisted singles and headlined Radio 1’s Big Weekend and became the first band ever of Glastonbury’s emerging talent competition to be booked for the Pyramid and appeared as the first unsigned band on the superlative BBC TV music show Later… With Jools Holland.
Returning to the UK in 2011, further live highlights led to the band headlining Hop Farm Festival and headlining at their namesake Stornoway Festival on the Isle of Lewis in Scotland.

On 5 December, the band performed on the roof of the Southbank Centre in London, as part of A Room For London sessions, and you can watch the session here.
