10:00amThis two-day class allows time to really get into this ancient and fascinating craft.
The choice is all yours when it comes to what kind of basket you make - shopping basket, wastepaper basket, fruit bowl…. You could go for a larger basket - a log basket for example, or a more complicated basket - adding a lid perhaps, or just take more time to master each skill and make your basket really neat. We will be using the stake-and-strand method with a circular English base. You will be able to choose a border style and add a handle if you wish.
There are lots of different stages to making a basket so, over the two days, you will be learning new things all the time. Making your first basket will be a really rewarding experience and you'll find that baskets look so different when you have a real understanding of how they are put together. You will get huge satisfaction from starting with such a basic raw material and finishing up with a strong, useful and beautiful product.
Duration: 10am - 5pm
All tickets must be booked in advance.
Age Guidance: 18+
Materials are included but you are welcome to bring any art materials you prefer to use.
There is no need to print or collect a ticket as the team will have a record of those who have booked. Booking for workshops and courses close 24 hours before the start time. Please note we reserve the right to cancel any course or workshop if the minimum numbers are not met. If we are not able to run a workshop you will be informed three working days ahead of the course or workshop start date.
