Performing across the 64 performance in shifts, two sets of 6 local school children help make up the Dancing Dragons and Funky Genie Young Company and bring local talent to the show.
Celebrating their 100th panto appearance during the Aladdin run, Phoebe Cowhig (12) and Gina Wilson (12) have been performing in the our annual pantomimes since Robin Hood in 2011.
Also performing this year are Dancing Dragons - Natasha Curtis (13), Amber Betson (14), Isabelle Parker (12), Molly Masson (11), Georgina Jarratt (11); Funky Genies – Sophie Little (13), Hannah White (12), Dulcie Wheatley-Hince (13) Amber Morrison (11) and Abby Elliott (10).
The Aladdin Young Company attend local schools including Trinity School, Kennet School, The Downs School, Park House, St. Bartholomew’s and Hermitage Primary School, all in West Berkshire; Kingsclere Primary School and St John’s in Wiltshire.
The British Theatre Guide said: “The whole enthusiastic cast are really excellent including the young company of dancers who seem to be thoroughly enjoying their performances.”
The annual pantomime at the Corn Exchange is often described as the must-see Christmas event in Newbury. Last year we enjoyed record-breaking houses, with over 22,000 people coming through the doors to enjoy the festive fun – and this year is set to be an even bigger final number!
