Following the sad news of the death of trumpeter Humphrey Lyttelton, we regret that the gig with his band, scheduled for Thursday 26 June, has been cancelled. Patrons with tickets will be contacted by the Box Office for a full refund.
We are pleased to have booked Kenny Ball & His Jazzmen to appear at The Corn Exchange on the same date, Thursday 26 June. Further details to be published shortly.

Freelance Arts Facilitator (Panto Mural Project)
The Panto Mural Project is one of our Community Arts projects. It will be celebrating its 5th birthday of bringing the pantomime to life in the foyer of The Corn Exchange. We are looking for a visual artist to facilitate this week long arts project from Monday 27 – Friday 31 October 2008 at New Greenham Arts. These workshops will be 5 full day sessions, 10am – 4pm and are for 8 local primary school children between the ages of 9 -12 who have been identified by their school to take part in the project.

Season Highlights at The Corn Exchange & New Greenham Arts
The Spring/Summer season at The Corn Exchange and New Greenham Arts is now on sale. It’s bursting to the brim with events and packed full of live music, comedy, drama and children’s shows.
We are extremely excited to be co-commissioning Gravity and Levity’s new work Shift which kicks off the new season at The Corn Exchange in April. Shift combines contemporary dance, aerial circus and physical theatre in an intimate setting. It’s one not to be missed!
Continuing to present some of the best comedy talent around, we are delighted to announce that two of Britain’s best loved and biggest comedy stars will be bringing their brand new shows to The Corn Exchange. Ex-boxer Lee Evans will be returning in May and Dudley’s finest Lenny Henry performs in June. Early booking is definitely advised for these two gigs. Plus we also have Alun Cochrane and Andrew Lawrence perform at New Greenham Arts in April. Looking ahead, the Newbury Comedy Festival returns for its fifth successive year in July, the line-up will be announced at the end of April.
Also this season, The Corn Exchange is delighted to welcome three big names from the world of music. In June, award winning singer Elkie Brooks will be performing some of her biggest hits as well as songs from her forthcoming album. Living legend and trumpeter Humphrey Lyttelton and his band will be bringing you their eclectic repertoire from early traditional to modern jazz tunes. Plus former lead singer with 60s band Amen Corner, Andy Fairweather Low, will be rounding off the season on 19 July. Other musical highlights include Pama International, The Hamsters and The Barron Knight.
Our theatre programme includes Fawlty Towers star Prunella Scales in a new production, Gertrude’s Secret, a set of touching and intimate monologues, as well as Niki McCretton’s magical new show Space 50, featuring live performance, animation, film and an original score. Unlimited Theatre return to The Corn Exchange in May with their new show The Ethics of Progress- a mind bending, jargon free, whistle stop tour of Quantum Physics. Plus we are delighted to welcome Germaine Greer who will be attempting to put William Shakespeare’s marriage in its social context in her one woman show Shakespeare’s Wife.
There is plenty for children and families this spring/summer. During the Easter holidays we welcome back The Panto Company with their new show Humpty Dumpty & The Big Book Of Nursery Rhymes. Plus the Mr Men and Little Miss return with Sports Day Fun. In the May half-term holiday why not take a trip to Pirate Island with the Singing Kettle company – set sail for a thrilling singalong voyage to a tropical paradise, dressing up is highly recommended!
Amongst a season packed full of new acts, The Corn Exchange and New Greenham Arts also welcome the return of regular events, The Blue Hours, The Mandolinquents, and Jongleurs.
